Groups within Spaces

Groups are subsections inside a Space that allow members to focus on specific topics, goals, or interests.

Adding a Group

To create a new Group:

  1. Go to Manage → Groups

  2. Click Add Group

  3. Enter a Group Name

  4. Optionally, add a short description to clarify the Group’s purpose

🗨️ Group Questions

Groups can have an optional question that members answer when joining.

  • Default Question:

“What do you expect and how do you want to contribute to this Group?”

  • You can activate, deactivate, or edit the question anytime.

  • Groups can also be created without a question, allowing open access.

User Responses:

  • When a member answers the join question, their response is recorded in their Profile under that Group.

  • Members can edit or update their response at any time.

💡 Tip: Use the question to set expectations and encourage thoughtful participation.

🏷️ Using Tags

Tags help categorize posts within a Group and make them easier to find:

  • Admins can create new tags for the Group.

  • Members can only apply existing tags to their posts (auto-tagging).

  • Tags can be used to mark topics, skills, or areas of exchange.

💡 Tip: Use relevant tags consistently to help members discover posts and engage in meaningful discussions.

Importing Posts

You can import posts to Community Feed, for example from an Excel file, to seed discussions or migrate content from other sources:

  1. Go to Manage → Groups → Import Posts

  2. Upload your Excel (.xlsx or .csv) file

  3. Ensure the file includes at least:

    • Post Title

    • Post Content

Tip: Importing posts helps your Community Feed start with meaningful content and encourages engagement.

Best Practices for Groups

  • Give each Group a clear, descriptive name.

  • Decide if a join question adds value to engagement.

  • Use tags to make posts searchable.

What’s Next?

Once your Groups are created, you’ve defined the core topics and engagement areas for your community. Next, you can:

  • Invite members to join specific Groups that match their interests.

  • Encourage members to answer the Group question to personalize their participation.

  • Start conversations or import posts to build momentum.

Groups bring structure and meaning to your Space — they’re where ideas and connections come to life.
